Itinerary

Day 1: Luang Prabang Arrival (-)

Welcome to Luang Prabang! You will be greeted by our local driver and taken to the hotel for check-in. 

Meals on your own. Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.

Day 2: Luang Prabang Sightseeing - Kuang Si Waterfalls (B)

OPTIONAL: Tak Bat ceremony (from 2 people upward)

If you manage to wake up early, attend the alms giving ceremony for cultural knowledge. Highly recommend you to watch the sunrise at the crossroads in town at about 05.00 AM. At the time in Luang Prabang, monks in saffron robes from many temples will have walked in long silent line to receive the offerings, which are sincerely offered to them.

In the morning, depart for the Phousi Mount, from which you can catch the vista of nature around and the city.

Then, we pay a visit to Vat Xieng Thong (Royal City’s Temple) – important ancient evidence about religious, royalty and art.

After that, the destination of Wat Visoun is waiting ahead. The temple owns a strange and incredible structure of Lao former style.

Coming up next is the Wat Mai temple. Located nearby Royal Palace, the stunning temple was built in the 18th century and is the largest, most decorated temple of Luang Prabang.

One more destination to go: Kuang Si Falls, which is lovely with turquoise water. During your transfer, hundred miles of rice paddy fields, small rustic villages alongside the path are pleasing to watch. We will stop as some villages to sightseeing and be allowed to swim in the basins.

Day 3: Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Caves - Joint Tour (B, L)

We will send a tuk - tuk to transfer you to the boat port in the morning.

On the Nava Mekong, you will share the cruise with other tourists and leave at 10:00 AM. While flowing, beautiful river sight and the scene of plain rural life would be great to take photos.

About 2 hours traveling upstream, you will reach the Pak Ou Caves, which are really close to the intersection of Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers. What special in these two caves are thousands of Buddha images from many centuries ago! Besides, the caves are holly place for pilgrims, especially when in the Lao New Year festivals (around mid - April).

When cruising back, enjoy Lao cuisine on board.

After about 1.5 hours, the boat will disembark in Luang Prabang, that would be around 14:00 PM. The tuk-tuk will catch you at the port and get you back to your hotel.

Day 4: Luang Prabang - Khmu Village - Fly to Vientiane (B, L)

Begin in the morning, get on a ferry to cross Mekong river to reach to Khmu village. If it is possible, spend a little time at Ban Chan pottery village. If lucky, you can experience yourself when making lovely clay pots.

While moving, you can catch the image of tranquil villages, kids playing their folk game and farmers working in their fields. Then, pay a short visit to Ban Boum Xieng to have a closer look to the ethnic customs and their daily life. In the afternoon, meet the Khmu family and enjoy traditional lunch with them.

After that, you shall travel back to the Mekong river. Meet the unpopular but gorgeous decorated temple: Wat Long Khun. Then, move a short distance to a limestone cave to see the Wat Tham Xieng Maen. The Buddha images are skillfully made, just take your time. In addition, you can pay a visit to Wat Chomphet. From the place, you will have a best position to contemplate the whole scene of sunset and the surrounding area.

The joy in Luang Prabang ends in late of the day. Pack up and fly to Vientiane. As soon as you arrive, check in at the hotel and rest.

Day 5: Vientiane City Tour - Buddha Park (B)

We will have a day sightseeing Vientiane’s spotlights:

Vat Phra Keo is considered to be one of the most remarkable temples in Vientiane. It was constructed in 1565. Also, this is where hold the Emerald Buddha images in the past.

Vat Sisaket is always attractive with skillfully carved tiny Buddha images on the walls and the astounding architecture, history of the 1800s.

Pha That Luang (constructed 1566, rebuilt 1930). With the architect that typical of Lao culture, this monument is Lao most significant religious, a national monument and also stands for the nation of Laos.

Patuxai (the memorial monument): the building of 1957 is the region highlight. It was built based on the architecture of Triomphe in Paris, also nicely mixed with Lao features. Standing on its peak, you are able to catch the city vista.

Talat Sao Market: where to spend money on many Lao cool stuff.

The visit will have taken us until the afternoon complete. Then, travel 25 km to the well - known Buddha Park, which possesses more than 200 concrete Buddha statues from all size in its courtyard (the biggest state is up to 40 meters height). Other than that, you can also observe the human-shape statues, animals and Lucifer statues. Furthermore, it is able to access the pumpkin-shape monument, which stands for Hell, Underworld, and Heaven.

Day 6: Vientiane - Fly to Pakse - Bolaven (B)

You shall transfer to the airport (without a tour guide) and have a short flight to Pakse in the early morning. By the time you arrive in Pakse airport, the guide and driver will be ready and transfer you to Bolaven Plateau, which is in the highlands of east Pakse and be the residence of many tribes, like the Lavens.

When you get to Tad Lo, you shall stay there for a while to immerse yourself in the three spectacular separate waterfalls. When it turns to the afternoon, keep on your journey to Tad Yuang and Tad Fane waterfalls. On your way, you shall stop at the coffee/ tea plantation. 

Stay one night at Bolaven Plateau.

Day 7: Boleven - Watphou Temple - Khon Phan Pheng Fall - Khong Island (B)

In the morning, depart from Bolaven to 4000 islands. You will stop en route at the pre-Angkorian temple of Vat Phou, which is recognized by the UNESCO as the World Heritage.

You shall have spare time to discover the Ou Mong Ruins before heading for Khone Papheng, which is the tourist attraction in 4000 islands. With the length of 10 km, the waterfall has become the most enormous waterfall throughout Southeast Asia.

Then, you will reach to Don Khong- the largest island of Si Phan Done. Take your time contemplating the captivating scene of the water and swimming in the hotel pool. 

Meals on your own. Stay one night at the hotel.

Day 8: Khong Island - Pakse (B)

You will spend the whole day to discover the two small islands of Don Det and Done Khone. Relax when cruising on Mekong river. While flowing, you can catch the image of children playing underwater and fisherman netting fishes.

Then, hire a bike and ride slow around the two islands, which is connected by an old bridge. Check Ban Khone fisherman village out. Right there, you can also find the ruins of French railway tracks and the stunning Liphi Waterfall.

Take your time there and shoot some amazing photos.

When it turns to the afternoon, we will be on the motor-engine boat and reach the Cambodian border, where the famous Irrawaddy dolphins can be seen.

Visiting is over. Travel back to Pakse and relax.

Day 9: Pakse - Champasak Departure (B)

Have your time and be ready to transfer to the airport (without a tour guide) and catch your flight. Room only be returned at noon.

Trip Notes

Time travel: Possible to travel all year around however May to Oct will be rainy season. The wet season witnesses the country at its most lush and vibrant.

Rooms are available from 14.00 on arrival day until 12.00 on departure day, room supplement charge will be added for request of early/late check in/out.

Airfares (if any) may change without notice prior to e-ticket issuance.

Price for infants and children will be quoted as follow:

  • Children under 2 years old: Free of charge (Maximum 1 child under 2 years old travels with 2 adults; from the second child, 50% of the regular fare will be applied) 
  • Children from 2 to 5 years old: 50% of the regular fare will be applied
  • Children from 5 to 11 years old: 75% of the regular fare will be applied
  • Children from 12 years: 100% of the regular fare will be applied

During Peak Season and special occasions, surcharges may be added to the price:

  • Christmas and New Year’s Eve: Compulsory meals would be added during these times of the years, depends on hotels or resorts you will stay overnight.
  • Laos New Year: 12 April – 18 April: Extra fee will be applied during holiday.

Visa requirements:

For Laos: You must have a valid passport and a visa (or visa on arrival) to enter Laos. Our consultant will be happy to advise you on visa requirements.

Your passport must be valid for six months beyond your planned stay, and you must have at least one blank page for each visa stamp.
