Itinerary of RV Bassac Pandaw Cruise Downstream Cruising Siem Reap - Saigon - 8 Days
Your adventure begins with a scenic coach transfer from Siem Reap to the riverside town of Steung Trang.
Upon arrival, you will embark on the RV Bassac Pandaw, your elegant home for the next seven nights. Enjoy a peaceful sunset cruise on the Mekong as you meet the crew and fellow travelers, followed by a grand welcome dinner as the ship sets sail.
Start your morning with Tai Chi on the sundeck during a sunrise cruise to Peam Chi Korng, a hidden pottery hub. Explore the village by tuk-tuk to see local artisans at work before testing your language skills at the fresh market.
In the afternoon, we visit the remote village of Pak Russei to witness traditional silk weaving and noodle making.
The day concludes with a private performance of Bokator, an ancient Khmer martial art, right in the heart of the village.
Journey to Oudong, the former royal capital of Cambodia, to explore the magnificent Vipassana Dhura Meditation Centre. After a peaceful meditation session, rejoin the RV Bassac Pandaw for lunch.
The afternoon features an authentic ox-cart ride through the emerald rice paddies and riverside villages of Kampong Tralach.
As night falls, enjoy cocktails around a fire pit in a local fishing village, accompanied by traditional dancing and storytelling.
Discover the architectural wonders of Phnom Penh by traditional cyclo, visiting the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum. In the afternoon, we visit the Killing Fields and Genocide Museum for a profound look into Cambodia’s complex history.
The ship docks overnight at the city port, allowing you to explore Phnom Penh’s vibrant nightlife and riverfront promenades at your leisure.
The RV Bassac Pandaw weighs anchor early, cruising downstream toward the Vietnam border. Relax in the observation lounge as we complete immigration formalities.
By evening, we arrive in the charming border town of Chau Doc. Take a sunset stroll along the bustling riverfront before returning to the ship for a gourmet dinner.
Travel by minivan to Sam Mountain to visit the sacred Hang Pagoda, where you can climb the steps for breathtaking views over the Delta.
Later, board a sampan to explore the region's famous floating fish farms and enjoy a vibrant private Lion Dance performance in a local village. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the sundeck as your boutique Mekong cruise continues deeper into the heart of the Delta.
Note: In high water periods (Oct-Nov), this excursion may be replaced with a visit to Long Thuan village.
Experience the lush beauty of Ben Tre, navigating through bamboo forests and mangroves by sampan. Visit local fruit orchards and artisanal workshops to see the Delta's rich handicraft culture.
After lunch, the ship enters the historic Cho Gao Canal, a French-built waterway offering a fascinating glimpse into local trade.
As we sail into central Saigon, enjoy a sumptuous farewell dinner against the backdrop of the city’s glittering skyline.
After a final buffet breakfast on board the RV Bassac Pandaw, disembark in the heart of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).
Whether you are heading to the airport or continuing your exploration of Vietnam, you leave with unforgettable memories of your luxury Mekong river cruise.
