Types of Vietnam visa
According to the new immigration regulations that took effect on July 1, 2020 (Law No. 51/2019/QH14), Vietnam visa is classified into about 21 main types by the purpose of visit, namely DL, DN1, DN2, NG, DT1, DT2, DT3, DT4, LS, DH, LV, LD1, LD2, HN, PV1, TT, SQ, etc.
There are 6 main types of Vietnam Visas:
- Tourist visa (DL)
- Business visa (DN1, DN2)
- Student/internship visa (DH)
- Investor Visa (DT1, DT2, DT3, DT4)
- Working visa (LD1 – LD2)
- Diplomatic visa (NG)
How to get a Vietnam tourist visa?
There are 3 main ways to get a Vietnam tourist visa
Vietnam visa arrival
The whole process to apply for Vietnam visa arrival has 03 simple steps:
Step 1. Complete the Vietnam visa on the arrival application form and pay the service fee.
Fill in the secured application form with the required information such as full name, date of birth, passport number, arrival date, etc. Double-check correct information.
Make payment for service fee via Credit/ Debit Card via OnePay/Paypal or Western Union.
This full online process to apply for a Vietnam visa may take you less than 5 minutes.
Step 2. Get the approval letter via email
After your submission and payment, we will start processing your visa with the Vietnam Immigration Department. Within 02 working days (or even 02 – 04 working hours with our super urgent service), you will get your visa approval letter (also known pre-approved letter) and the entry-and-exit application form delivered to your email.

You then print them out and complete the entry and exit form, prepare 2 passport-sized photos, an original passport (valid for at least 06 months following your date of entry), and cash for the Vietnam visa stamping fee.
Step 3. Get your visa stamped upon arrival at Vietnam airport
Upon arrival at any of Vietnam's international airports, (in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Hai Phong), show your visa approval letter, completed entry, and exit form, original passport, and photos and pay for Vietnam visa stamping fee to get visa stamped on your passport by Immigration Officer.

Vietnam's e-Visa is now available to nationals of more than 200 countries:

Vietnam E-visa
Before applying for a Vietnam E-visa, please make sure to well prepare to visa requirements to Vietnam:
- Your original passport is at least 6 months in validity following the arrival date.
- The original passport has at least 2 blank pages for the Vietnam visa sticker and Immigration stamps.
- Scan of the passport information page (soft file).
- Scan of the passport-style photo (both hard and soft files).
- Cards that can make payments online (credit or debit ones, etc.).
When all documents are ready, please follow the following steps to submit your Vietnam E-visa application:
Step 1: Access https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/ => choose E-visa issuance to enter the main portal for applying for Vietnam E-visa => choose For foreigners to get ready.
Step 2: Carefully read the whole process in the text to understand what you are going to do, then click the button.
Step 3: Complete the personal information in the E-visa application form as well as upload the portrait photography and passport data information page.
Step 4: Receive the Verification Code and make payment.
Don’t forget to save this code as later you will need to use this code for checking the Vietnam E-visa status and downloading your Vietnam E-visa letter. No email was sent from the system for this code so get it done by yourself.
The next step is to pay the processing fee. The fee is USD 25 and it is nonrefundable no matter if your E-visa application is approved or not.
Step 5: Get Vietnam E-visa result:
After 3 working days, you can access the link https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/web/guest/tra-cuu-thi-thuc and check if your E-visa application is approved. If yes, download and print it out for immigration customs.
Passport holders with Vietnam E-visas can enter and exit through international airports, land ports, and seaports as follows:

Apply for a visa at Vietnam's embassy/consulate abroad
Step 1: Visit the website of the Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate in the country you are living in. Complete the online visa application form. Then print it out, paste the photo and sign it.
Step 2: Prepare a Vietnam visa application with full documents suitable for the type of visa you want to apply for.
Step 3: Go to the office of the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate directly to apply for a visa to enter Vietnam. If the application is complete and valid, the manager will receive the application and schedule an interview. The applicant then pays the prescribed fee. (Visa application fee varies, depending on the issuing Embassy/Consulate).
Step 4: Foreigners come to the visa interview by appointment. Processing time for visa applications can take 3-5 working days after having a complete application.
Step 5: Applicant goes to Vietnam Embassy/Lash to get passport and visa.

How to extend Vietnam visa
Requirements for Vietnam visa extension/re-issuance
To extend/re-issue a Vietnam visa, foreign guests must ensure their original passport:
- Valid for at least 06 months from the time of renewal/reissuance.
- Have at least 02 blank pages.
Visa extension procedures
Step 1: Send a copy of your passport page and the page containing the valid visa to info@asialinkstravel.com and we will check and notify you if the visa can be extended or not.
Step 2: Send the foreign visitor's original passport to our office address in Hanoi and pay the renewal fee.
Step 3: Get back your passport with visa extension within 8 working days for normal processing or 4 working days for urgent processing.
